Boston Radio Talk Show Host Howie Carr Injured in Car Accident (STATEMENT)

KidFrank.com
"To All Members of The WRKO Listening Family:
I'm sad to report our good friend and colleague Howie Carr was injured today in an auto accident. Those of us who know, love and respect Howie and his work recognize what an important day Tuesday was for him and why he toiled through the night to compose his columns and prepare for the post-election radio show today. The Republican surge that swept across America was something Howie predicted and so urgently wanted to share with each of you on the air throughout the week. However, as a precaution, Howie will remain off the air and under observation to ensure a full recovery with no complications. At this time, I ask all of our great WRKO listeners to keep Howie and his family in your thoughts and prayers."

Respectfully,

Phil Zachary
Vice President/Market Manager

Salem NH: Two Woodbury Middle School Students were Hit by a Car this Afternoon

KidFrank.com

"Today at dismissal, two Woodbury Middle School students were struck by a car as they crossed Main Street. Salem Fire Department and Salem Police Department officials responded immediately. Emergency Medical Technicians treated the two students and soon thereafter released them to their parents or guardians. We’re thankful that neither student suffered serious physical injuries.
Many of these two students’ classmates witnessed the accident and were shaken and distraught. Administrators and the school nurses walked these students back to the school where they had an opportunity to speak with a school counselor and were able to be a source of comfort for one another.
It seems that the students crossed from one side of Main Street to the other at Henderson Circle. It appears the car that hit them may have been traveling at an unsafe speed. The combination of crossing the street outside a crosswalk and the high rate of speed resulted in an accident. Again, we’re grateful that neither student suffered serious physical injuries."

Pumpkin Fest Organizer Assaults, Threatens to Censor Local Newsman

KidFrank.com                   "Jared Goodell is a Keene native and local independent journalist. Yesterday he was the host for EIGHT hours during Pumpkin Fest 2014 on Cheshire TV, the local public access channel. Jared also put thousands of dollars of his own money into producing the all-day event coverage. For this amazing effort to cover the yearly festival (it would not have been covered on CTV without him), he is rewarded with an evening visit by Pumpkin Fest organizer Ruth Sterling who behaves in a ridiculous manner. Sterling attempts to grab his microphone multiple times, as well as block the camera’s view of Jared, accuses him of frightening the guests of the festival and demands he stop talking about the riots happening just a few blocks away in the college neighborhood. Since Jared is a newsman at heart, he feels obligated to report on what is happening in-town, and tangentially related to Pumpkin Fest. He defends his right to be the media and she responds by telling him she’ll “pull the plug” (which she has no control over) and that he should behave because she gave him the physical location for the CTV remote studio. As though she somehow was doing him a favor – he’s the one who spent over $5,000 of his own money to make the coverage of her event happen! At one point in the beginning of the video, Sterling accuses Jared of being a “Free Stater”, this is the new pejorative to describe anyone who stands up for their rights. It’s not Jared’s first time causing controversy for reporting the news. Earlier this year he stirred it up for reporting from the scene of this Summer's suicide and on the resignation of a despised school principal. Jared is not afraid to break the official city narrative of Keene being a perfect, blemish-free New England town, and is willing to take the heat. Keep up the good work, Jared – we’re all Free Staters now!" *All text from Free Keene via Youtube.com

"Underground photo-trading chat rooms have been filled in recent weeks with hints that something big was coming. Thursday night it finally arrived: A third-party Snapchat client app has been collecting every single photo and video file sent through it for years, giving hackers access to a 13GB library of Snapchats that users thought had been deleted. Salem, NH Police Chief Suspended

KidFrank.com
"SALEM - Town officials are staying mum on the events leading up to the suspension of Police Chief Paul Donovan. In an interview Thursday morning, Town Manager Keith Hickey declined to comment on the matter. Asked if he could confirm Donovan's suspension, he replied, “I can, but I choose not to.” Hickey added any records "pertaining to internal personnel practices," including the minutes of a nonpublic meeting held Sept. 22, had been sealed and were therefore exempt from RSA 91-A, or the state's Right to Know law" http://www.unionleader.com/article/20140925/NEWS0606/140929328To continue reading story on UnionLeader.com click here *Photo courtesy TownofSalemNH.org *Quoted text from UnionLeader.com

"It's Over We Won!" Artie T. Buys Market Basket!

KidFrank.com
By: George Leavitt
I could give you my opinion on the end of the Market Basket nightmare, but I think I will leave it up to one of the people from the front lines. Lisa Adams of Salem, NH fought this fight every day, sticking her neck out. Along with her husband Lee, a Market Basket vendor the family was severely affected  by these events. I'll be honest I shed a tear of happiness when I received this text, not just for Lisa and Lee but for the workers of New England. You may not know it but this is one of the biggest worker actions in U.S. history. With the utmost enjoyment I can say,
The Basket's back baby!
""On a personal human side on June 23 three people were fired. 7 resigned the next day. But they didn't turn their backs on us. When the protests started 8 top executives got fired they DIDNT walk away. They started it and they saw it through. Once this started EVERYONE stuck together as a family. Arthur T Demoulas did NOT have to buy the company. He could have walked away and just lived with his 49.5%. But he and his mother and sisters LOVE this company and the associates and customers. Everyone from CEO down to janitors stood side by side and we stood firm and by God we won!!

Report: Market Basket "Contingency Plan" Could Close 61 of 71 Stores

KidFrank.com
"A plan in place if no deal is reached to end the six-week-long Market Basket standoff would close 61 of the chain's 71 stores. A board meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday didn't happen because shareholders aren't on the same page, a source told NewsCenter 5. According to a Boston Globe report, "a contingency plan prepared for the board... would close 61 of the 71 stores... and terminate nearly all employees." Ousted CEO Arthur T. Demoulas has reportedly made a $1.5 billion offer to buy out the part of the company controlled by his rival cousin, Arthur S. Demoulas, and his allies on the board. Stores are empty, sales are down 95 percent and the grocery chain is losing money. Despite repeated reports that both sides of the Demoulas family are close to a deal to sell the chain to Arthur T. Demoulas, no such sale has been announced" ...To continue reading on WCVB.com click here

Details on Artie T.'s Final Bid for Market Basket 8/23/14

KidFrank.com
"The Boston Globe has uncovered some of the details behind Arthur T. Demoulas’s final offer to buy Market Basket, which is expected to be discussed this weekend and could bring an end to the high-profile supermarket fight that has engulfed much of Eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire this summer. According to the Globe, the bid is for $1.5 billion, with more than $500 million of that figure coming in the form of financing from an unnamed private equity firm. Previous discussions had centered on Arthur T.’s rivals, Arthur S. Demoulas and his family, providing a financing plan. neither side had seemed happy with the others’ proposed terms for that plan. Arthur T. and family own 49.5 percent of Market Basket and are seeking to buy out the remaining 50.5 percent from Arthur S. and his side. The bid for $1.5 billion would put the valuation at around $3 billion." ...To continue reading on Boston.com click here

Arthur T. Demoulas Statement on His Final Bid 8/22/14

KidFrank.com
By:George Leavitt
Arthur T. Demoulas has released a statement through his spokesperson Justine Griffin, it reads as follows:

"Having submitted his final bid on Thursday and heard the statement of the Governors this evening, Arthur T. Demoulas expects that this purchase can and should be finalized immediately," Griffin said. "The bid remains at full price and its terms are extremely favorable to the sellers. There is nothing that stands in the way of getting this done this weekend. It's time to complete this deal so we can all get back to doing what we love doing, and that is running Market Basket."

Back to opinion and not facts. Most "Market Basket" employees are remaining cautiously optimistic about this news and don't want to give up until it is official and they hear from Artie T. directly. In folowing the story over the last few weeks there has not been much to report on, I apologize. I have been out there talking to employees store managers but I never felt there was anything to write about, because there wasn't. For two weeks I have been hearing more and more rumors with no way to confirm. As a Market Basket customer myself I can tell you this is the most concrete thing I have heard in weeks. So from me to you as Market Basket customers I hope this thing gets done soon, I am sick of paying $3.50 for bagels.

"I'm Coming Home" An Essay by Brian Scalabrine (COMCAST SPORTS NET NE)

KidFrank.com
"Before anyone cared where I would play basketball, I was a kid raised in Enumclaw, Washington. It’s where I walked. It’s where I ran. It’s where I did a paper route at age six. It’s always held a special place in my heart. From the moment I signed with the Celtics, I knew this was my new home. Most of the people are just like me. They work hard, they play hard, and the passion they have for their sports team is unlike anywhere in the world. I had passion for my team just like the fans. I guess I was kind of like the fans except I had a courtside seat for free and if we were up by 20 with less than two minutes to play I would get to go into the game. Where was I – the great American city of Boston. In Boston, people's passion can be overwhelming. But it drove me. The Celtics hadn’t won a championship since the Larry Bird era of the 80s, so I wanted to give them hope when I could. I wanted to inspire them when I could. My relationship with Boston became bigger than basketball. I didn’t realize that when I left Boston in free agency four years ago. I do now..."To continue reading on Comcast Sports Net NE click here

Artie T. Makes Offer to Buy Market Basket Outright

KidFrank.com                   "Arthur T. Demoulas on Wednesday said he will make an offer to buy the Market Basket supermarket chain, seeking to regain control of the fractured company and end the decades-long family feud that has exploded into an extraordinary public spectacle this month. Demoulas said in a statement that he and his side of the family will try to buy the 50.5 percent of Market Basket now controlled by opposing relatives who supported his firing last month as president of the company. “We believe that our offer is a very full and fair one and should meet or exceed a seller’s expectations of the value of the company,” the statement said. “We care deeply about Market Basket and all of our associates and we want to work together to return the company to its successful model for serving our loyal customers. Those who received the offer need to consider the matter, so we are not in a position to comment further at this time.” " To continue reading story on BostonGlobe.com click here
