Somali Pirates Execute Four American Hostages

"Press realease from US Central Command"

TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 22, 2011) — "At approximately 1 a.m. EST today, while negotiations were ongoing to secure the release of four American hostages, U.S. forces responded to gunfire aboard the pirated vessel (S/V) Quest. As they responded to the gunfire, reaching and boarding the Quest, the forces discovered all four hostages had been shot by their captors. Despite immediate steps to provide life-saving care, all four hostages ultimately died of their wounds.

“We express our deepest condolences for the innocent lives callously lost aboard the Quest,” said Gen James N. Mattis, U.S. Central Command Commander.

During the boarding of the Quest, the reaction force was engaged by pirates on board the vessel. Two pirates died during the confrontation and 13 were captured and detained along with two pirates already in US Forces custody. The US Forces also found the remains of two other pirates already dead aboard the Quest. In total, it is believed 19 pirates were involved in the hijacking of the S/V Quest."

21 Free iPhone Apps to keep your Financial House in Order

I was just reading this great story on It was all about all the free apps for budgeting and financial fitness that are available for iPhone. If you are anything like me I have bills all over the house, I lose everything and end up asking my wife where all my papers are.

I hope they have all these apps for the iPad as I am so excited along with my wife and boys to have one. Maybe this will help with my conversion to Apple. Having always been a defender of PC's even though I have no technical expertise, just because I always thought Apple products cost too much. I can tell you this much after being the owner of an iPad for a day and a half Apple products are worth the extra money just in their ease of use.

Any who here is the link to the story I was referring to:

Understanding Autism and My Son's Amazing Brain.

Kid Frank

Link:Where does this piece go? -Elisa Leavitt

We watched a show this morning about a man with Asperger Syndrome who had savant skills relating to the calendar and art and history... in light of my findings yesterday that my son "sees" numbers in a 3-dimensional curiosity was to levels unimaginable.
This morning I began a new journey into understanding his mind and how his own processing is.
I placed a calendar in front of him on his lap and gave him a marker and asked him to show me what he "sees" in his mind when looking at the calendar. It was open to the month of February of this year. (2011)
I asked him best I could to please tell me with his words what it is that he is 'seeing' .
What followed was nothing short of AWESOME.
George-"my brain looks like a computer when I look at the page."
(begins drawing numbers seeming random on each date.)
on February 22nd he drew a circle with a cross through it.
Feb 12th he drew a stick figure with a man in a tall hat (obv abraham lincoln.)
no marks on valentines day...
He mentioned seeing symbols and feeling frustrated he couldnt draw what his brain thinks.
I calmly ask him to explain the symbols... no response.
I asked him what his brain is doing. He says he sees a "robot arm" building the month.
Not on top of each other, from left to right. (makes sound effect and contorts his arm in a way to show me how this looks.)
I asked him about the days of the week. He says calmly "some days look the same but sunday, monday and tuesday look like a symbol that turns into the word." as he begins to draw a scribble above each word. He says very matter of factly-- "they change......... some of them change."
He then put the marker away, and was done.
one brief encounter that might have actually changed the way I view every approach I make with my child.

Here are a couple of books that have really helped me understand my son and autism more and more.

I read this book last year, and I thought it was an amazing look into Asperger's and how it effects someone on the spectrum. John Elder Robison recalls, from his perspective, his life from childhood into becoming an adult. I found it fascinating to read his words that paint his life. What a smart man. So talented. After reading this book, it made me think about how many other people I probably grew up with that have Asperger's and might not even know it. Robison himself wasn't diagnosed until he was well into his adult years, that is also part of why I was so enthralled with his story. I reccomend this book highly.

I borrowed this book from a friend recently. I opened it...and started reading. Next thing I knew, I was at the last page. It was impossible to put down. Written from the perspective of a mother who's son has autism and the journey their family took to give him the best chances at success in life. You will laugh, you will cry, you will be astonished at the strength this woman has to parent in the midst of chaos. No matter where in life you are at this moment, consider this as your next book on your reading list. I can't say enough good things about this one. This book will teach you more about autism, love, life than you could ever imagine.

This picture just appeared on the White House Flickr page. It shows Jobs, Obama, Zuckerberg and Google's Eric Schmidt toasting at a dinner. Picture was taken 0n 2/16/11 and only shows Jobs from behind. Is it telling that they only showed him from behind? Also is Jobs health the reason Obama went to California for this meeting? Your comments would be appreciated.

Picture of Steve Jobs at Obama's Tech Round Table 2/16/11

Just stumbled across this and I know it is originally sourced from the National Enquirer. If you put two and two together it does make sense. The National Enquirer says they have pics of an "emaciated Jobs... outside the Stanford Cancer Center the same place Swayze was treated in his final days" Jobs does have more money than god and can afford advanced treatment for his pancreatic cancer unlike the regular Joe. Also Jobs money makes some previous celebrities who had pancreatic cancer Michel Landon and Patrick Swayze seem like regular Joes. Remember how quick Patrick Swayze went, I think it was less than 2 years. Take it with a grain of salt but we will see in 6 weeks or so.

Food Liberation Army Kidnaps and Beheads Ronald McDonald (VIDEO)

I know it's just a plastic Ronald , but keep the kids away from this one.

So this group called the Food Liberation Army kidnapped Ronald McDonald and posted this on their website.

We are the Food Liberation Army, and we hope that this extreme action will take us towards a better and safer food future.

Two days ago we kidnapped Ronald McDonald from a McDonald's Restaurant. If you do not answer all the questions we will execute Ronald on Friday February 11, 2011 at 6:30PM EET.

We love burgers, fries and McDonald's, but we can no longer watch silent when the food we love is being destroyed and brought to shame because of greed and indifference. Because of your short-sightedness your burgers have become nearly inedible.

That is why we want to help McDonald's to save food. We made you a list of questions we want you to answer. We hope that your answers will make you understand the dilapidation of the food culture we love and the appropriate measures.

1. Why are you not open about the manufacturing processes, raw materials and additives used in your products? What are you afraid?

2. How many tons of un-recycled waste you produce per year? Why do you not publish that figure?

3. Do you operate with unethical actors, such as illegal immigrants? Why?

4. Why do not you take responsibility of your culinary consequences? Why do you not seek to prevent obesity, diabetes and their ramification deceases?

5. Why do you not just use ethically produced meat? Do you not think it should be a goal for everyone to serve meat of an animal that has has had a good, clean and drug free life? Why is it not your goal?

6. Why is cheap production cost your main value?

7. Do you think your only goal is to maximize your owners´s profits? What do you think would happen if you begin to produce quality to your customers?

8. You are big and global player that reaches a significant part of the earth's people. Why do you use your power to short-sightedly maximize profits and not to create a better world ?

We are not alone, but represent a rapidly growing population. We have moved quickly towards better quality and ethicality of consumption. It is in your interest to answer our questions publicly, and develop your activities through them. Only this way you will survive in the future. Listen to our message and the Move. We will reward you by eating more of your burgers.

You have until Friday February 11 at 6:30PM EET to respond....

Silence is interpreted a negative answer. Have a nice day.

They then beheaded Ronald.(As you can watch below)

Boston's Heart Breaking Sports History Including Boston / New York Rivalry
Kid Frank Contributor:
George Leavitt

The Boston/New York rivalry has been around a long time. It goes all the way back to the Revolutionary War. Since the days of Paul Revere and William Dawes there has been competition between these two cities. But I digress as a Gen Xer, Boston sports fan born in 1975 my sports life (except for the Celtics when I was young) has been full of disappointment. Mostly ( over 50%) at the hands of New York teams.

It all started for me at Fenway Park October 2,1978. I can't even remember it but I was there in the left field grandstand sleeping on my mom's lap, an innocent child when not 100 feet away a chip shot fell into the net over Green Monster. Breaking Boston's heart.

Celtics had a great run in the 80's but that all ended in 1986 when still the highlight of my sports fan life happened. My dad took me to game 6 of the NBA Finals I was eleven. The Celtics won, they were champions of the NBA, Larry Bird was MVP I got to walk on the parquet at The Old Garden Confetti falling from the rafters. All was good in the world.

From the peak to the trough in 4 months. I think Vin Scully said it best.
"So the winning run is at second base, with two outs, three and two to Mookie Wilson. Little roller up along first; Behind the bag! It gets through Buckner! Here comes Knight and the Mets win it!"
Boston's heart broken again.
The Celtics went to the Finals the next year against the Lakers hoping to provide a dose of antibiotic but they lost.
Boston's heart broken again.

Bruins went to the Stanley Cup Finals against Edmonton in 1988 and had problems with fog. NHL was forced to abandon a tied Stanley Cup game 4 near the end of the second period because of a isolated power failure at The Old Garden. Bruins lost the series when the game was replayed two nights later.
Boston's heart broken again.

Bruins back to the Finals in 1990 against Edmonton again they lost, you get the picture.
Boston's heart broken again.

The early 90's were a dead zone for Boston sports. Red Sox couldn't get past the first round, Patriots could barely win a game. The bottom was found and the first brick in the foundation for the greatest decade for one city in sports history was laid.(I know this may be blasphemous to some but it is just a comparison). Our "John the Baptist" came to Foxborough,MA in the form of a Big Tuna, Bill Parcells. I know some people around here still hate him for how he left but he showed the Patriots how to build a real football team, he laid the foundation. Got them back to the Super Bowl, then abruptly left for the Jets. With phone calls between NY and Parcells during Super Bowl week when he was supposed to be formulating a game plan. The Patriots lost the Super Bowl to Brett Favre and The Packers (Favre's only championship)
Boston's heart broken again.

The Pete Carrol era began....
... and ended. The Jets stole Curtis Martin.
Meanwhile the Yankees were winning four championships in five years.
Boston's heart broken again.

In 1999 Fenway hosted the All-Star game, Jeter and Nomar were friends.Mark Mcgwire along with the help of steroids and a juiced ball was hitting moon shots onto the Mass Pike and Pedro Martinez set a record and threw his arm out by striking out 5 of the first six batters. In October the Red Sox became the first team in MLB history to come back down 2 games to none in five game series with Pedro Martinez pitching six innings of no-hit relief in game 5.

For the first time in history the Red Sox and Yankees faced each other for the American League Championship. Unfortunately the Sox ran into a Steamroller and were defeated 4 games to 1.One highlight was when some Sox fans jumped into the Yankee bullpen and tried to fight the Yankee relievers.
Boston's heart broken again.

Once again the rivalry between the cities goes back to the founding of the United States. The Jets/pats rivalry was seeded in 1997 when the Jets stole Bill Parcells, Belichick and Curtis Martin from the Patriots. The Patriots threatened legal action against the Jets. NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue awarded the Patriots a 3rd and 4th round draft pick in exchange for releasing Parcells from his contract.Parcell turned the Jets around and brought the Jets to the 1998 AFC Championship game which they lost to the eventual Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos.

Two years later in 2000 the Patriots stole Bill Belichick back from the Jets. In one of the strangest moments in NFL coaching as Parcells was resigning as head coach of the Jets, he and the Jets management had agreed that Belichick would succeed him as head coach. Belichick had other ideas he scribbled on a piece of paper " I resign as HC of NYJ" he then took the podium and explained his actions. Many people in the New York media thought he had lost his mind. Belichick was hired by the Patriots and gave the Jets their first round pick in 2000 for compensation.

Two years later Belichick led the Patriots to their first championship in franchise history in Super Bowl XXXVI. In addition two years later he would win back to back Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX.The rivalry floundered during those years as the Patriots were the NFL's premiere franchise and the Jets were mediocre.

The rivalry picked up again in 2006 when the Jets hired Patriots defensive coordinator Eric Mangini as head coach. Another incident happened when Belichick prevented mangini from retrieving his personal belongings from Gillete Stadium in fear that he would recruit Patriots staff to the Jets. Early in the 2006 season the Patriots accused the Jets of tampering with wide receiver Deion Branch who was holding out for a better contract. The Jets were cleared and Mangini brought the Jets back to the playoffs where they played the Patriots in the wildcard round and were thumped 37-16.

In 2007 the Patriots became the first team to complete a perfect 16-0 regular season. They made it to the Super Bowl where they were upset by the underdog New York Giants.
Boston's heart broken again.
(this day is referred to as "Black Sunday" in New England)

In 2009 the Jets hired Baltimore defensive coordinator Rex Ryan as head coach and in his first remarks to the media during Pats/Jets week he said "I never came here to kiss Bill Belichick's rings"

In the summer of 2010 Rex Ryan wrote on ESPN's tour bus "soon to be champs" and has expressed many times how he believes the Jets are a Super Bowl team.He has angered many fans by these comments. He says he does not regret it.
eBooks for Everyone at Barnes & Noble
Before last weeks game against the Colts he made a statement about Peyton Manning and a backhand at Tom Brady "No quarterback studies as much as Peyton.. Brady may think he does".
This really riled up the Patriots fans. I don't think he meant to go after Brady I think he was just trying to complement Manning, Belichick style. he just can't help himself. Then this week he said that the match up against the Patriots was personal between him and Belichick and that the teams were just about even and it came down to him stepping his game up. Okay yeah,I thought at first(sarcasm). He was asked about those comments and his overwhelming sense of superiority to the Patriots, and what if they lose how will he feel. He said their were no degrees if you lose, so if you lose you are going to feel bad anyway. He's right.

During this weeks media Jets player Antonio Cromartie said "he hates" Tom Brady and called him " an *sshole." That was followed by Patriots receiver Wes Welker using some creative words to talk about the game with the Jets and references to Ryans foot fetish video.

Welker's foot press conference video

That was followed up by Jets Linebacker Bart Scott “I’ll tell you what,’’ he said. “Be very careful what you say about our coach. [Welker’s] days in a uniform will be numbered. Put it like that.’’
Which in turn the NFL issued a statement that if "Illegal physical acts occur"
statements made during the week will be taken into account.

Egyptian Military Suspends Constitution and Dissolves Parliament

Kid Frank

Egypt's temporary military government has suspended the constitution and dissolved Parliament. No matter what you believe about "the will of the people" The will of the Egyptian people will be towards a more Muslim style of government which is not in the the best interest's of the U.S. Yet it is freedom, and freedom is good as long as it is real freedom.
The U.S. does provide over one billion dollars each year for their military and all Egyptian officers are trained in U.S. That is good if it has built some alliances but bad if we have to fight them at some point.
What's going to happen now? Is Egypt going to move towards a Military government? Or will they really do what they say they were going to do. Please leave your comments on blogger below.

With the exception of some proficiency training, Kelly has been on personal leave since Jan. 8 to care for his wife, congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was critically wounded in a Tucson, Ariz. shooting.

"I am looking forward to rejoining my STS-134 crew members and finishing our training for the mission," Kelly said. "We have been preparing for more than 18 months, and we will be ready to deliver the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) to the International Space Station and complete the other objectives of the flight. "We are glad to have Mark back," said Peggy Whitson, chief of the Astronaut Office at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. "He is a veteran shuttle commander and knows well the demands of the job. We are confident in his ability to successfully lead this mission, and I know I speak for all of NASA in saying 'welcome back'.

A news briefing will be held at 2 p.m. CST today at Johnson to discuss Kelly's return. The briefing will be broadcast on NASA Television.

Questions will be taken from reporters at Johnson, NASA Headquarters and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Participants will include:

So in case you missed it because you had to work or were away from your computer. Here is a breakdown of what happened today in Egypt. The situation changed drastically today when Pro-Mubarak protesters showed up. Things started to get real crazy when about 50 men riding horses and camels carrying whips and clubs galloped through the crowd whipping anti-government protesters. Many of the riders were pulled of their animals and beaten by the crowd (Video 1).
