The Absolute Worst Two Christmas Presents I Ever Bleeping Got

Kid Frank

Contributor: Devon

People always start these things by saying 'Now that I'm older...'

Of course you're older. You're either older, or you're dead. Period.

Well, I am older. And I have come to realize that there's really no such thing as a 'bad' Christmas, birthday, or other-occasion gift. Any gift is something somebody wanted you to have. If it was a that bad a mismatch, get to know that person better, for later on. Work on that stuff.
Having said that, there are times when things just go horribly wrong.

Example 1: I was about 11, and my Dad decided to give my brother and I a thing called a 'Hermit Crab Lab' for Christmas. Basically, it's the same thing you see in every mall these days: Plastic tank with a vented top, some sand in the bottom, extra shells for the crabs to move in and out of, as is their nature.

We will never know why; maybe it was a little too much Absolut Christmas cheer, but, Dad and his girlfriend (at the time) made the decision to leave the Crab Lab in the trunk of the car overnight, on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, the Crab Lab came with two actual live crabs, neither of whom were prepared or knowledgeaible enough to survive a New England winter evening in the trunk of a car.

So, Christmas morning, it's time to open presents, and, well, I should point out here that we have an older sister too. who wasn't included in the Crab Lab experience. Perhaps giving your teenage daughter crabs on Christmas morning is considered 'bad form', in some places?? I mean, this IS New Hampshire, but, come on, right??

Anyway, we're opening stuff, mostly AC/DC and Kiss cassette tapes and maybe some socks, and then it's time to open the Crab Lab. Long story short, the crabs simply didn't make it. We opened a box of cold hard reality, that morning, and never forgot it. Eventually a trip to the pet store got us some new recruits for the Lab, who lived for about 6 weeks. Basically, hermit crabs are giant bugs that live in a shell, and they're just not that interesting. I'd rather have a lava lamp, to be quite honest.

Example 2: My Mom, to the very last Christmas we still had her, always made sure we had a full stocking on Christmas morning. The strange thing was, as she got older, she seemed to get more and more of her stocking stuffers at CVS; We'd all get up bright and early on Christmas morning, and basically dump out a pile of lotion, shaving cream, deoderent, shampoo, and after shave, with a pouch of chocolate coins. We still can't figure out, to this day, what she was trying to tell us.

There was one year, though, that she really outdid herself, and decided it would be useful for us all to have our own thermometers. The only problem was, she grabbed them off the shelf, not realizing they were actually infant rectal thermometers. And on Christmas morning, as we all basically laughed our asses off, Mom collected these thermometers, and told us that this was the end of the subject. She didn't want to hear another word. Ever.

My stepfather, John, pointed out that it was already too late: This incident would be thrust into the 'annals' of our family Christmas history.

And so, as we all get older, try and remember that Christmas isn't about what you want, but what other people thought you should have. And be thankful nobody ever gave you a dead crab or a butt thermometer.

Merry Christmas and take care. I love you all, from the bottom of my pond!

Where are you?

Daddy's Junky Music Closes Down For Good

KidFrank has just got word from a former employee that a local institution Daddy's Junky Music has closed it's doors for good. After closing seven stores in August because of rising health insurance and  workman's comp costs the chain just could not survive anymore.

This is just another example of the corporatization of America and all we will be left with soon is big box stores and no personal service, no money staying local. Yet there is hope now is the perfect time for young entrepeneurs to rise up, be it in the music instrument business or any  business a void is beginning to open. The void is personal service hometown feel.

Not to sound hippie like, but you need to buy local. Look at where your stuff comes from, pay a little more if some guy in town made it, you could always go to him if  it does not work as expected and the profit stays in the community. If a guy in your town can make a million bucks odds are he is going to spend a lot of it locally. Globalist take their money and spend it in Fiji, Hong Kong and Cannes. Not that we are any better than those places, but let the make their own local money there.

Exploit this weakness people continue your protests Tea Party or Occupy Wall Street but take your anger towards the 1% and  the corporate peddlers and fight back, hit em' where it hurts, in the pocketbook.

Report: Theo Epstein To Leave Red Sox For Cubs

The Boston Herald is reporting that Theo Epstein is on the verge of leaving the Boston Red Sox for the Chicago Cubs.

Paul Soucy contrubuted to this report.

"The hangup in the negotiations has been twofold. One of them is that Red Sox ownership was still hoping to have Epstein remain with the team. The other is compensation: If Epstein is to leave Boston, said one source with knowledge of the negotiations, the Red Sox are going to want “something real.”"

That's All.

Opinion: Occupy NH

My thoughts on the "Occupy Wall Sreet" movement are that  they are not totally wrong. Some of the editorials I have read on the liberal side have claimed that people with masters degrees and p.h.d.'s who are protesting are regular people or "regular folks" as the President call them. I am sorry but people with graduate degrees are not regular. These people should try digging a ditch for a living.

Some are complaining that they are over qualified for hourly work, then leave your degree out of your resume'. I will say one thing these people are right about is the deterioration of the middle class, yet this is not just solely  big business' fault. Technology is also to blame. The advances in technology over the last 35 years have been immense. Yet some job loss is due to social welfare programs. Why would anyone want to pick cotton or dig a ditch for $8.00 an hour when you could collect the same amount from the government? Not that these people want to be unemployed but you tell me what you would rather do.

One of the things that really gets me riled up is when I hear people say "these people are just sitting home collecting a check livin' the dream"
I am sorry but have you ever been to Lawrence, MA? This is where my business is located. I don't think anybody would choose to live here if they had the oppurtunity to live some where else. It is a dreary depressing place, the schools are horrible they don't fix the roads the mayor is allegedly corrupt. Granted their are people who are spunging off the system and the Mayor may be one of them.

So what I am trying to say may seem jumbled to you, be you a right wing conservative or lefty liberal. But the truth is most of us fall somewhere in the middle. I listen to both sides all day on the radio as I drive around selling and making deliveries for my family business. NPR will tell you that all thes people in the "Occupy" movement are just nice people voicing their freedom of speech. Michael Graham on the other hand will tell you that these people are communist who need to take a shower.

It amazes me at how people on either side can just be turned into mouth pieces. Please people think for yourselves, listen to both sides and form your own opinion. Also don't hate people just because they are pro choice or for welfare programs.

To all the "Occupy" protesters I say you are not communists do your thing be safe and don't let the anarchist's co-opt your protest.

To all the tea partiers I say do your thing be safe and don't let the bankers co-opt your protest.

In closing I say the differences in these groups is what makes America a great country and if either is forced to stop because they are labeled as
fascists or communist then that is a country I do not want to live in.

I took the pic on this post and set it up, and if you think I am some lefty liberal come check the Romney sign on my lawn.

Sarah Palin Announces She Will Not Run For President (AUDIO)

Sarah Palin announced in a letter to her supporters that she will not run for President in 2012.

Listen to Sarah Palin talk about her decision with mark Levin

"October 5, 2011
Wasilla, Alaska

After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order.

My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office – from the nation’s governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the “fundamental transformation” of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.

From the bottom of my heart I thank those who have supported me and defended my record throughout the years, and encouraged me to run for President. Know that by working together we can bring this country back – and as I’ve always said, one doesn’t need a title to help do it.

I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, including in the race for President where our candidates must embrace immediate action toward energy independence through domestic resource developments of conventional energy sources, along with renewables. We must reduce tax burdens and onerous regulations that kill American industry, and our candidates must always push to minimize government to strengthen the economy and allow the private sector to create jobs.

Those will be our priorities so Americans can be confident that a smaller, smarter government that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people can better serve this most exceptional nation.

In the coming weeks I will help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the President, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House.

Thank you again for all your support. Let’s unite to restore this country!

God bless America.

– Sarah Palin "
